lessons learnt
Tuesday, March 31, 2009 12:03 AM

The past few days have been so dramatic i think i maybe living in a tv series... like that movie where the whole guy's life is actually a show... can't remember the title of that show... oh right "the truman show".

It just reminds me of the importance of letting go. the importance of compromise. the importance of introspection. the importance of humility. the importance of teachability. the importance of learning to live with an open heart. the importance of discernment and wisdom. the importance of forgiveness. the importance of flexibility

Once too often, we all assume that what we have, is our god given right. i constantly remind myself that no one owes me anything. i don't have a right to anything. anything i have is a blessing and i thank God for it. Always blame yourself first in any situation, just in case. Most of the time, i find that, i am partially at fault if not fully at fault. It's just all give and take.

Well, that's just life.

Just to let you know...

the world has been set right. edward is not longer disfigured.

anyways, i was looking through daleyhake.com he has some pretty awesome photos. but something else caught my attention... a quote from the poet Khalil Ghaib.

i would like that my life remain a tear and a smile:
a tear to unite me with those of broken heart;
a smile to be a sign of my joy in existence.

i love it.

MR500 is this weekend. photos! photos! photos!

is it just me or am i a magnet for trouble?

emo.

edward has been disfigured. his nicely polished red positive iridium polarized lens has been disfigured. the hydrophobic coating and the red positive coating is just GONE.

i'm sending him to be checked today... hopefully he comes back as good as new again.

here's edward

behold, edward, my oakley radar.

that's one thing to be happy about. its one hell of a good buy :) the photo was taken with rob (my phone) so forgive its fuzziness, i owe my shades a photoshoot all on its own one day. hahahah!

i've been sick for the past few days. i'm still recovering. i need to recover soon, cos MR500 is on this weekend! i did dboat for the first time ever in my life and damn was it painful! i was totally drained by the end of it. thanks to the 6 x 2k time trial (at which i discovered i'm still unbelievably slow) in the morning followed by 3 dboat race sets within an hour. that just kills.

i need more sleep. sleep is the key to recovery. sleep is key!

and yes, i was bored jsut now and started doing this facebook note and basically it starts the sentence and you end it... here's something i wrote...
In life you...
seize the moment, take risks and thank God for all the good that I find.
not bad huh, hahah!

this says it all!

and she said "all that is mraz is perfect and good"
Friday, March 6, 2009 12:26 AM

jason mraz totally owns all other artiste i have watched so far in terms of showmanship, performance genius and charisma.

let's start with the set list. a very well chosen set. a groovy and very "oomph" start with the song 'dynamo of volition'. i was very pleased he played one of my top favs 'you and i both" and did a very smooth medley to 'sleeping to dream'. not forgetting the huge crowd pleaser 'i'm yours' in which he got the audience to sing cute, geeky and groovy musical phrases. the less heard 'mr curiosity' was an acoustic piece which showed off jason mraz's very smooth tenor voice. the emotional 6/8 'a beautiful mess' was truly beautiful, very un-messy and utterly moving cos he sang with such conviction. not forgetting the layering of 'remedy' with a classic 'wonderwall'. and he ended with a big bang, electrifying the place with the number 'butterfly'. oh i forgot this one... the one where jason mraz sang a duet with joi chua? is that how you spell her name? oh the collective scream when jason planted one on her after the duet.

let me quote michelle doing our conversation. "jason could ask us to sing potato chips and we gladly would have". i can't help but agree to that. the amount of charisma he exuded just flooded the place. i could barely bring myself to sit during the concert despite my aching back. even if you had no sense of rhythm what-so-ever, the atmosphere just makes you wanna dance and groove to the music.

his band was very tight. the groove and the syncopation was perfect. his bassist was a killer. jason mraz himself is awesome with melodic improvisations. he's well-versed in different genres of music and unafraid to experiment. he's very creative and its cool how he sang his songs different how he did it in the album. which makes the concert all the more worthwhile paying for.

so, i do have a few photos. though pathetic cos i was not allowed to shoot with the 200mm lens i borrowed from sam wong, which i totally do not understand why.... its not like i'm going to sell them... its just for my own shooting pleasure. all in the fun of it.

so for your viewing pleasure here is jason mraz with 'a beautiful mess'.
